Why We Dream
Why We Dream
When a group of centenarian WWII veterans pilgrimage to Normandy, France to commemorate the anniversary of D-Day, we witness how these landscapes, scarred by war and frozen in time, unlock memories of the lives lost and lived thereafter. Why We Dream explores the trauma, humanity, and life-affirming moments experienced during the war, and how those experiences shaped the individual’s future lives and the building of Post-War America. Utilizing rare war archival, 16mm home movies, cinematic portraiture, and classic film excerpts, this story weaves an emotional, subjective history of twentieth-century society as told by the diverse voices of those who lived it.
