‘IT Chapter Two’ Clocks in at Nearly Three Hours
Kicking off the fall movie season is the highly anticipated “IT Chapter Two” which stars Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy and Bill Hader as the adult versions of the kids from the first movie. Released two years ago, the original “IT” grossed $327 million in North America and more than $700 million worldwide. Needless to say, there’s A LOT of anticipation for the sequel. According to returning director Andy Muschietti, the movie will be more than two hours and 45 minutes. At this point, it seems a sure bet that fans will need to settle in and spend some quality time with Pennywise and gang when the movie opens on September 6.
Along with “IT Chapter Two,” WB’s “Joker” is another movie that fans (particularly DC fans) are eagerly awaiting and features a clown-like character as the film’s lead. Directed by Todd Phillips, the movie is schedule for both the Venice and Toronto International Film Festivals and word is there’s some early Oscar buzz for both the movie and star Joaquin Phoenix. Based on feedback from people who have seen the film, this fall moviegoers can expect a dark, violent and ultimately powerful take on a character portrayed much differently than in past comic and film incarnations. We will get a chance to see what the buzz is about when “Joker” opens on October 4.
Just prior to football season, Showcase Cinemas is teaming up with Julian Edelman on a new, three-part “Movie Tyme” web-series! Along with celebrating the fun of a Showcase Cinemas movie-going experience, each episode features Julian’s humorous take on some of the most highly anticipated movie releases scheduled for the late summer, fall and holiday seasons. The web series recently kicked off with Julian’s “review” of Quentin Tarantino’s hit “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” Look for the next episode in September when Julian “reviews” both “Downton Abbey” and “Rambo: Last Blood.”
