‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ Blasting to a Near $200 Million Opening?

“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” is the end of a 42-year chapter and it’s sure to bring out all the universe of fans, but the big question is will it break $200M on opening weekend?  Box office pundits are leaning towards answering “yes” to that question, but we will need to wait until next week to get the real answer.  Early indication from cast members who have seen the film points to tearful joy!  In the meantime, another big December release, Sony’s “Jumanji: The Next Level”, is ready to take the box office crown this weekend.

Along with “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” the holiday window brings us three other highly anticipated releases: “Little Women,” “Cats” and “Bombshell.”  Will this interesting triumphant (along with “Star Wars”) create a holiday box office bonanza that will break records well into the New Year?   Based on early reaction, both “Little Women” and “Bombshell” are receiving overall positive critical reviews via Rotten Tomatoes, while Universal’s “Cats” will screen next week (as the film was just finished).  Meanwhile, Fandango predicts that moviegoers spurred by “Star Wars” will see two to four movies this holiday season, so our guess is that theater visits will be top-of-mind and records will be broken!

This holiday season Showcase Cinemas is supporting the Life is Good Kids Foundation.   Life is Good Kids Foundation’s signature Playmaker Program provides teachers, nurses, social workers and other child-care professionals with training, support and coaching they need to build healing, life-changing relationships with the children in their care.  One dollar from every Life is Good popcorn tub sold will be donated to the cause.  Plus, you can “round up for good” to the nearest dollar when you purchase tickets on showcasecinemas.com through the end of the month and your donation will go to the Foundation.
