It’s a new day at Showcase Cinemas! We hope you are enjoying our newly designed Showcase website and are happy you found this blog. We’ve been busy lately and in addition to our new site, we have also revamped our Starpass loyalty program. We hope you find both the site and Starpass easier to use and more engaging. Also, this Saturday is one of our favorite holidays, National Popcorn Day! To celebrate we are giving a free regular-size popcorn to every Starpass member who purchases a ticket for any show that day. So pass the popcorn!
Movie-wise, the highly anticipated "Glass" makes its debut this week. “Unbreakable” debuted in theaters way back in the year 2000 and its impact (no pun intended) should not be underestimated. It truly was the inspiration for today’s superhero sagas – the movies we have all come to know and love. Then two years ago, director M. Night Shyamalan took the series’ storytelling to an entirely new level with “Split.” Let's hope “Glass” does great and breaks $70 million during the four-day holiday weekend. We'll see how the glass shards fall come Monday!
On the Event Cinema side of the house, "Dragon Ball Super: Broly" debuts this week with many of our showtimes already sold out! So if you want tickets, book them now! As a reminder, this is the 20th movie in the “Dragon Ball” series and the first to carry the “Dragon Ball Super” branding. The story takes place after the Universal Survival Saga, depicted in “Dragon Ball Super.” It’s directed by Tatsuya Nagamine and written by Akira Toriyama. The film’s cast includes Jason Douglas, Vic Mignogna, Christopher Sabat, Sean Schemmel and Monica Rial.
At Showcase, the hot advance ticket so far this winter is Disney’s "Captain Marvel"! FYI, our Island 16 Holtsville, NY theater is currently the location with the most advanced tickets booked for this film, but our Randolph, MA location is a strong second. The movie opens on March 8 with a special Fan Event scheduled for Thursday, March 7 at select locations. This movie promises to be a new way forward for MCU superhero storytelling.
Finally, our Showcase Subscribe membership program is going gangbusters. In just two months, the program is attracting many new members throughout our circuit. But don’t take our word for it - one member named Luna says it best: “I am really happy with it, especially since our theater has recliners. It’s also super easy.
